Plant Financial Controller

Our client: A FMCG company based in Penang.

The Financial Controller reports to the Singapore Liaison Office and the CEO. The major job responsibilities for this position include, and not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for all matters pertaining to the effectiveness, competitiveness, profitability and operations of companies in the areas of the Accounting, Costing, Finance, Treasury, Taxation, Administrative and Management Information system functions, including all aspects of management and statutory reporting.
  • On a regular basis to conduct useful analysis of all business operations to identify the strength and weakness of each operation and provide recommendations of improvement to ensure overall group objectives are met. This includes reviewing and assessing each of the Group’s financial structure,   system and procedures to ensure that the Group’s financial status remain profitability and healthy.
  • Contribute and pro-actively review and analyze the feasibility of expansion plans for existing and new business activities to enhance to the profitability and competitiveness of the company.
  • Responsible for effective management of the funds and capital for the Group which involves preparation of financial forecasts.
  • Periodically review internal controls of the Group, and implement recommended audit findings; ensure compliance of the Group policies, and SOP.
  • Implement, develop and review accounting and financial procedures to ensure compliance with Group policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Periodically assess the budgetary control system including highlighting any variances and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Liaise with Company secretary, lawyers, bankers, tax agents, auditors, MITI, MIDA, BNM and statutory personnel over financial issues, auditing queries, legislation matters, tax submission, all legal and secretarial matters and inquiries. 
  • In addition to the major roles stipulated as above, the Financial Controller is also responsible for any other assignments which will be delegated from his or her superior(s) from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, CIMA, MICPA,CPA or equivalent.
  • Prefer 10-15 years’ relevant experience in Financial Accounting, with hands-on experience in statutory reporting requirement, manage and drive budget, forecast and business partnering effectively with external/ internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, good interpersonal skill with an excellent attitude.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills, ability to handle ambiguity, effective communicator as business partner.
  • Must be able to converse fluently in English.
  • Active and committed team player with strong leadership qualities and a track record of building and developing solid finance teams.
  • Preferably a member of MIA.
